FCCA Goalkeeping - Program and Curriculum

FCCA understands how important the goalkeeping position is to a team's success and we believe that "Practice makes Permanent," thus it is very important that our goalkeepers are able to get as much goalkeeper specific training as possible. Therefore, we have designed a program to bring out the best in our goalkeepers and prevent bad habits. Our goalkeepers will train together in an interactive, age specific, group format. Our program is designed to challenge the goalkeeper physically and mentally. We will focus on the 4 most important parts of goalkeeping;
    1. Technical abilities
    2. Tactical understanding
    3. Mental toughness
    4. Physical toughness

In addition to these four components our sessions are designed to teach good sportsmanship and leadership on and off the field. We have designed a year round goalkeeping program that will allow our goalkeepers to be successful at every level. Our goalkeepers will train once a week for 1 hour. However, goalkeepers are encouraged to attend other sessions when available. FCCA goalkeeper training is free of charge to FCCA goalkeepers. In addition to weekly goalkeeper training sessions there will also be a goalkeeper fitness session once a month. This will be done with all of the goalkeepers in the club training together and will be in the form of "pressure training." Pressure training is designed to challenge the goalkeeper's fitness level as well as their mental toughness using goalkeeper specific endurance exercises.
